2013 Annual Report
A Safe, Welcoming Place
For more than 10 years, the NorthBay Adult Day Center has served as Solano County’s only full-time supervised adult day program, for those with Alzheimer’s disease and other memory loss disorders. In 2013, the center provided 4,466 patient days of care.
Having a five-day-a-week program gives participants an opportunity to spend all or part of their days involved in social interaction and specialized therapeutic programs, while offering caregivers and loved ones time during the day to either go to work or to “recharge.”
Up to 35 program participants may be in the Adult Day Center any given day. With structured and socially inviting activities, participants join in on art, sewing, memory-building or musical activities. The facility, located on the NorthBay VacaValley Hospital campus, includes a memory garden and covered porch.
In 2013, NorthBay Healthcare, and Adult Day Center staffers and family members, assembled the largest contingent of participants in the Alzheimer Association’s Walk to End Alzheimer’s event.
The association promised to return up to 60 percent of all funds collected by any team that raised more than $4,999 during the event. Not only did the NorthBay team accept the challenge, but topped it, collecting $13,900 in donations. The effort returned $8,400 to the Adult Day Center.
